Slow service. Chips are hard. Salsa is boring. Guac is made to look classy but is ordinary and is less than what I expected. Service is slow. Margaritas are mediocre.

Not only is the service slow, but the waitress was kind of rude. Confusing to find the entrance. Food was OK

Having Rock'n Mexicana adjacent to our hotel is definitely an advantage. I really appreciated this place since they served complementary breakfast daily and probably one of the few restaurants that are open on Christmas Day. The fireplace right in the middle of the restaurant elicits an intimate ambiance while the fire pit outside is a great venue for an apéritif. The $3 happy hour starts at 3:00 pm and ends 6:00 pm daily that includes drafts, sangria, margarita cocktails to name a few. Our dinner started with glasses of Pinot grigio and Cabernet sauvignon (not the best quality) served with Nachos and salsa for nibbles (salsa freshly prepared and delicious!) for main course we took advantage of the buy one get one Fajita promo every Wednesday, we had the steak/chicken fajitas and the surf/turf fajitas. Both dishes came with tortillas, sour cream and salad. For its value, the fajitas were surprisingly delicious and hearty. I summed up the service as fast, efficient and friendly. Our orders came in timely fashion. It was indeed a great and romantic Christmas Eve dinner.

I haven't written a review in a while, but this restaurant inspired me. This place is patently AWFUL. Our family of seven came upon it because we were staying at the adjacent Winwood Inn. After a day of skiing, we were excited to just roll from our room to a Mexican restaurant. Sadly, after a miserable meal, I have 11 overall infractions to report: 1) We were told we'd have a 30 minute wait. That eventually became an hour after the table they'd promised us was given away right in front of us. When we asked about it, they said another table was being prepared for us but they just needed silverware. That process took another 10 minutes. Total wait: 60 minutes. 2) Since we'd had an hour to peruse the menu while waiting to be seated with five hungry kids, we told the waitress upon seating that we were ready to order. We were subsequently ignored for 15 minutes. 3) We had to wait 30 minutes for chips, which only arrived after we asked for them. When they were delivered, the waitress apologized and said, "Sorry, the kitchen is making fresh chips so this is all we have right now." A refill with said fresh chips never arrived. One meager basket for seven people. 4) We ordered an $8 bowl of guacamole. It never arrived. It was, however, included on our bill. 5) We asked for sour cream to be omitted from two of our four fajita orders. Sour cream came on all four plates. 6) We never got a water refill until my husband finally wandered out into the restaurant with four empty glasses. 7) We ordered two kids' meals with apple slices. They were served with french fries. 8) When we noted the apple snafu, the waitress brought us a plate of sliced apples. One problem - they never bothered to core the apples first! Seeds complimentary! 9) We asked for ketchup to go with the contraband fries. It arrived 15 minutes later with an angry thud on the table. 10) Our coconut shrimp special arrived with the wrong dipping sauce. The waitress apologized when she presented us with the plate, noting that she'd get us the correct sauce. It never arrived. After we finally asked her about it, she casually retorted that they were out of the correct sauce. 11) The shrimp fajitas were so over-salted that they were nearly inedible. With so many infractions, we decided to write them up and leave them with our 5% tip, which, in the retelling, many people thought was too much. Now, many of these things had nothing to do with our waitress... but as the server, shouldn't you push the kitchen around a little and tell them they're screwing up orders? At the very least, tell the cold-side chef to core the apples! The best part was when we approached the register with our credit card (because no one ever came to the table to get it), TWO other tables were in line complaining to the manager about the long wait and the terrible service. So my advice to you -- STEER CLEAR, even if you're staying conveniently next door at the Winwood Inn. It's worth venturing out into the driving snow just to avoid this disaster of a restaurant.

Horrible service and horrible food sums this place up. Plus, they always close early and hurry you out.

Emily is the best bartender in town! She made amazing custom drinks and entertained a rowdy group post skiing. Drinks were great and their salsa is outstanding! Highly recommend sitting next to the fire and having a margarita.

Decor and ambiance were great. Service was perfect. Entrees were delicious. Sides and nachos were completely bland and unseasoned. Oh...a very yummy house margarita!!

No idea where these positive reviews are coming from. Only positive I can say was that the drinks were good, but note I am not saying the bartenders were good as they were generally rude and made excuses rather then take ownership for what was horrible food and service. First the guacamole took 40 mins, yes 40 minutes to be served. This was after asking the bartender 2x on its status with each time getting a new excuse and never a simple "sorry". Second our entrees came out a solid 1 hour after ordering. Again no apology. When i asked why the tacos didn't come with any sides the response was "that is enough food." I need to lose a few pounds but , seriously this happened. I thought I was on MTVs boiling point. The taco was watery and the chicken was rubber and tasteless. Though I had better luck then my friend whose salad came out with rancid lettuce and parts of the chicken you only use in soup stock. Oh forgot to mention I ordered enchiladas first only to be told ten minutes later they were out of this dish, a Mexican place no less. I should have known we were in trouble right from the start, when the guy next to me at the bar who was eating alone, told me his corn appetizer was ice cold along with the fish tacos and recommended my friend and I run for the hills, sadly we did not listen. In the end we asked for the manager who agreed to comp the bill, the best service of the entire night. I think since it is one week before the end of ski season I have reason to believe they did not get any fresh deliveries... not an excuse of course.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
